A Lifelong Connection to Horses
Robin Hagy is a Sacramento-based photographer whose connection with horses began at just seven years old. Growing up around horses and competing in equestrian events throughout her teenage years, she developed a deep appreciation for their strength, grace, and individuality.
Today, that lifelong passion continues to influence her photography. Through her lens, Robin captures the spirit and personality of animals — from the joyful companionship of dogs to the powerful presence of horses.
A Journey Into Photography
n 2010, Robin picked up her first professional camera — a moment that would forever change the direction of her life. Entirely self-taught, she began using photography as a way to support local animal shelters in Sacramento.
By photographing rescue dogs and helping highlight their personalities, Robin gave many of these animals a stronger voice and a better chance at finding loving homes. This work remains deeply meaningful to her, and she continues to believe that imagery can inspire compassion, advocacy, and change.
The Spirit of the Wild
Robin’s connection to horses naturally led her to photograph the wild mustangs of the American West. Through these powerful images, she hopes to bring awareness to the challenges facing these majestic animals and the importance of protecting their freedom and future.
Her photographs aim to capture not only their beauty, but also their resilience and untamed spirit.
Cappadocia, Turkey
Robin’s current collection was captured in the breathtaking landscape of Cappadocia, Turkey. Known for its textured hills, ancient cave formations, and surreal scenery, the region offers a truly timeless environment.
During golden hour, the landscape transforms into a magical setting where horses move gracefully through the terrain. These extraordinary moments allowed Robin to create imagery that feels both cinematic and deeply connected to nature.
Photography That Tells a Story
For Robin, photography is about more than creating beautiful images. It is about capturing a feeling — the personality of an animal, the quiet connection between companions, and the timeless spirit of the horse.
Through her work, she hopes viewers will feel the majesty and grace within each photograph and become immersed in the story each image tells.
